 ESTABLISHED in 1982 in the former LW Smith wool scouring and carbonising plant in Launceston, Saunders Wool is currently Tasmania's longest running wool buying and brokering company. It is 100% family owned and operated, handling about 20% of the state's wool clip.

The company is a registered broker with the Australian Wool Exchange and provides all wool testing requirements through its on-site facility and the Australian Wool Testing Authority.

 Saunders Wool is able to offer a broad range of wool marketing options including the auction system in Melbourne, progressive tender, direct marketing, forward contracts and private buying. The company also specialise in value adding wool for clients in the wool industry, whether it is classing or blending wool for a specific client order. It also owns and operates Tasmania's only dag processing plant which turns the byproduct into usable wool.

 Bob Saunders, the owner of Saunders Wool employs 6 full-time staff and with the knowledge of 60 years of experience to pass on has surrounded himself with very capable wool buyers and wool classers.

 Wool buyer, Richard Clark has been with the company for 33 years travelling the state as the Saunders Wool representative 

 Wool buyer & Store manager, Bill Saunders like his father started in the wool industry at 16 and after 10 years at Dynon Wools in Melbourne he returned to Saunders Wool bringing with him years of experience.

 Saunders Wool prides itself on the relationships. It has developed with growers and clients through the supply chain. Evident by the International travels Bob has had over many years promoting Tasmanian wool to countries such as the US, China, India and Italy.
